Your Health is Your Money

One of the most important things in the world is you. There is only one you. The question is how you are treating yourself. American’s are one of the unhealthiest people in the world. The average American is overweight. Obesity kills productivity and cuts one’s life expectancy. The life of an inactive society that eats unhealthy food causes us to face health issues like high blood pressure and high heart disease. An unhealthy lifestyle has been one of the reasons for the rising cost of healthcare. Therefore because we have become a nation of unhealthy people we have to pay more for healthcare.

Poor health has a direct impact on your ability to generate wealth. An unhealthy lifestyle characterized by lack of exercise, poor eating habits and high stress is a recipe for disaster. Poor health also cost you money! Cost such as a co-pay for a doctor visit, co-pay for prescriptions, and time off from work. In addition to direct cost for poor health it also has indirect cost. Some of the major indirect cost of poor health is lack of creativity, increased stress (which causes even more poor health) and lack of energy. Another major downside of being overweight is that people make unnecessary judgments about you.

It Can Be Fixed

The interesting thing about being healthy is that it is not difficult to do. Although a healthy lifestyle takes discipline and commitment it is not as expensive as you think.  If one would compare the cost of being unhealthy to being healthy, the cost of being unhealthy is far greater. The biggest obstacle for being healthy is changing one’s eating habits and being active. An unhealthy lifestyle can be fixed but you most first want to fix it.
