Charlie Sheen went being the highest paid actor on television to getting fired. Sheen reportedly lost his job due a dispute with television executives concern over Charlie’s erratic behavior. Sheen has been a well-regarded actor for years. However Sheen vice has been his love for partying, which led to executives at request that he seek treatment for alleged alcohol abuse. Sheen decided to join AA but leader quit. Soon after Sheen quit AA he hit the airwaves to voice his thoughts about various topics. One of the topics his discussed happened to be about the show he starred in.  Sheen interviews and behavior became irresistible the media.

Eventually Sheen was fired from the show “Two and a Half Men”.  After being fired Sheen decided to sue ABC for breach of contract. Things look gloomy for Sheen until he opened a Twitter account. Sheen’s eccentric behavior and comments also caught the attention of masses. Sheen broke history when he became the fastest person to gain 1 million follows on Twitter. The ability for Sheen to gain so many followers showed that Sheen had the ability to connect with the public. The ability to build a loyal fan base provides unparalleled marketing capabilities for Sheen. Sheen has the ability to build Sheen, Inc. a business that does not need a middleman and goes straight to the people.  The power of social media is showing to be the catalyst for Sheen, Inc.

Sheen has already has already used his new found platform to his advantage. Sheen advertised for a job using his tweeter account looking to hire a “winning” social media intern. The company Internships.com gave 100,000 dollars to Ad.ly campaign to get Sheen’s endorsement. Internships.com reported 95,333 clicks within the first hour, visits from 181 countries and ultimately more than 74,040 submitted applications. Sheen has his own website, tee-shirts, and tour.  The tour even has a stop in New York City. Sheen can build is brand into a profitability company that will pay him more money than he gained working for television. Sheen must be very careful not to overdue his brand. The best brands endure while the worst brands disappear. While he has the public attention it is important that he finds a way to diversify Sheen, Inc. The public can be bored really quickly.

The lesson one can take from Sheen is that social media and traditional media is powerful.  One can use social media to build one’s brand awareness. After you have built a quality brand you can sell your products and services to your potential clients and customers.  Do you have tiger blood?
